Shan-e-Nuzul (Asbab al-Nuzul) is the background of the Qur'an: the events and questions that led to the revelation of particular verses. Knowing them helps you understand what a verse means and how it was first applied.
This app explains 149 occasions of revelation from 52 surahs. Each one shows:
• The verse in Arabic, with a standard translation
• The background in clear, simple language
• The narration that describes the occasion
• Its source (Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi and others) and its grading
• What the verse teaches beyond the people it was revealed about
Authentic only
Many stories about why verses were revealed are widely repeated but have weak or broken chains of narration. This app includes an occasion only when it is reported in Sahih al-Bukhari or Sahih Muslim, or in a narration graded sahih or hasan by recognised scholars of hadith. A separate chapter explains popular stories that are not authentic, such as the "gharaniq" story, and why scholars reject them.
